John and Jennifer West
Her side of the story:

With so many different ways for people to meet these days, it is no wonder that a social networking site is bringing so many people together in relationships.

I had been pretty adamant about not joining Myspace.  Nope!  I wasn't going to do it.  All of my friends were on it.  My kids were on it.  But, I flat refused...  Then I moved to Austin. That was about two and a half years ago.  So, I cratered to peer pressure (and loneliness) and gave in.   I also needed a way to keep tabs on the kiddos and it seemed like the ticket.  Now I'm totally addicted.

I began "meeting" lots of different people, or I should say talking to them online.  I did go on a couple of dates from the site.  But I hadn't met anyone that I wanted to promote out of friends status.  Nice people and some turned into good friends, but when you know, you know, right?

I was working for a local magazine and had a big fund raiser to go to so, knowing that a phenomenal hairdresser was on my site, I sent him a message.   "Help!  I need a change!"  I had added John a few months before we actually met, but had only exchanged a few notes.  He was looking forward to me coming in and sent me a rate sheet.

We set an appointment and I had to cancel.  We rescheduled and I was VERY late because of a bad accident on Mopac.   I found out later that he was very nervous when I walked in the door.  He played it cool though, I had no idea.

Our first date was making meatballs for the big Christmas party that he gives for clients, friends, etc.  One date later and we've been joined at the hip ever since.

When I wrote him that I needed a change I had no idea that it would change my whole life.  We are engaged and the wedding is on the 30th of May.  Barefoot on the beach in Padre.  I can hardly wait.

John will probably write something in his side of the story that says I "stalked" him.  I'll let you decide.  :)
