The Wedding Video and Pictures
John proposed March 27, 2008.
We had talked about having a ceremony with just our kids. We both wanted a beach wedding, and since John grew up in South Padre Island it seemed like the perfect place to have it...plus we could go fishing!!! We chose August to give us more time to plan.
When we told my Grandma that we were engaged, she mentioned (half kidding) that it would be great if we got married on their anniversary since it was always a really special day. Then she asked if she could go barefoot for the wedding. There is NO WAY I was going to tell her that we had decided "kids only" after the last 6 months she'd had. That little secret came out a couple of weeks AFTER the wedding. :)
Unfortunately my sweet Grandfather passed away December 2007. My Grandparents would have been very happily married for 64 years on May 30th, 2008.
John and I talked about it and he said, "Let's do it!" So that's how we chose our date.
That also opened it up to our parents, since we couldn't just invite her and not them too.
It was the best decision we could have ever made. That day was perfect and it gave her something to look forward to on their anniversary from now on. It also gives us some really good juju since my Grandparents were so happy for all those years. Never hurts, right?
I am very grateful to John for offering to do that for her (and me). He is always thinking of me and Grandma has adopted him as her own... (He calls her grandma too)
